On Saturday, November 15, SEISA Africa Asia Bridge (SAAB), the largest annual event of the SEISA Group, was held. The 11th event was blessed with good weather and welcomed over 10,000 visitors, with 15 embassies in Japan and mainly from African countries participating.
At the opening ceremony, H.E. Mr. Estifanos Afeworki Haile, the Ambassador of Eritrea to Japan, who has been a regular guest at the event, delivered a heartfelt speech once again. This year, H.E. Ms. KAAHWA Tophace, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uganda to Japan, where FGC continues its support activities, attended for the first time. FGC also set up a charity booth at the venue, providing visitors with an opportunity to learn about our activities.
In addition, Mr. Almame and Ms. Abidemi, international students from SEISA Kokusai High School Shonan, also participated and enjoyed interacting with embassy officials and attendees. They enjoyed the unique SAAB experience, including being delighted to find a food truck serving dishes from their home countries. In particular, third-year student Mr. Almame was reunited with Mr. Patrice Davy Bayo, Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Mali, whom he had visited shortly after arriving in Japan. Mr. Bayo was pleased with Almame's growth.
SAAB was launched in 2015 with the hope of "building a bridge between Africa and Asia." Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has expanded to online streaming and has grown into an event that can be joined from anywhere in the world. This 11th year once again proved to be a day full of valuable learning and meaningful interaction.
