From August 10 to 15, 2025, staff members of FGC visited the Kingdom of Bhutan. For many years, FGC and the SEISA Group have continued programs in Bhutan, working in cooperation with the Bhutan Olympic Committee (BOC) and Bhutan Paralympic Committee (BPC) to support children, youth, and people with disabilities through sports.
The main purpose of this visit was to deliver five sports wheelchairs.
These wheelchairs are specially designed for para-basketball. They had been generously provided in 2020 through Nippon TV’s 24 Hour Television charity program for donation to Bhutan. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, travel was not possible at that time, and the chairs had been carefully stored at SEISA Oiso Campus. After five years, we were finally able to deliver them to Bhutan.
A presentation ceremony was held at the BOC office, attended by representatives from both the Olympic and Paralympic Committees. We hope these wheelchairs will contribute to the further development of parasports in Bhutan.
Another highlight of this visit was the great joy of reuniting with graduates who had studied at SEISA. At the airport, we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Penjor, a graduate of SEISA Kokusai High School Shonan and SEISA University, who now works as a staff member of BOC.
We were also reunited with Mr. Kinley, a graduate of SEISA Dohto University, and Ms. Chimi, who once participated in a Pre-Games Training Camp in Hakone and later competed in the Tokyo Paralympics. Seeing our SEISA graduates contributing to sports and society in Bhutan in their respective fields is a source of great encouragement and pride for us.
During our stay, we also held meetings with BOC and other stakeholders to discuss future programs. We will provide updates as concrete initiatives take shape. We remain committed to continuing these efforts, ensuring that children and young people in Bhutan can thrive through sports, and deepening the bonds of friendship between Japan and Bhutan.
