On April 25, 2025, a new international student from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Abidemi, arrived in Japan and enrolled as a first-year student at SEISA Kokusai High School Shonan. Her major is women’s basketball, and over the next three years, she will be dedicated to both academics and athletics.
This marks the first time the school has welcomed a student from Nigeria. It is also the first time an international student has joined the women’s basketball program. As her arrival coincided with the spring tournament season, Abidemi has already begun participating as a member of the team. She has also started taking Japanese language classes, officially beginning her school life in Japan.
While there may be many unfamiliar aspects of living in Japan for the first time, we will do everything we can to support Abidemi so that she can feel safe and enjoy her time here. We hope that her three years will be fulfilling in all aspects.
