Dejen Tesfalem Weldu (Nansatsu Tokyosha) from Eritrea, who graduated from SEISA Kokusai High School and SEISA University as a sports scholarship student from FGC, continues to make great strides in Kagoshima.
First up is the 72nd Kagoshima Prefecture Lower Round Relay Race. He participated in this race, which was held from February 15th to 19th, 2025, as a member of the Kawabe District team / Nansatsu Tokyosha. He showed brilliant running over three districts: District 1 on the first day, District 3 on the third day, and District 10 on the final day. In particular, in District 1 on the first day, he set a new district record and won the district prize in a fierce competition against the top runners from each district.
Then, two weeks later, on March 2nd, he achieved his second consecutive victory at the Kagoshima Marathon 2025! He won his first marathon last year and competed this year as the defending champion. He won the race in a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 9 seconds. Although Dejen achieved the amazing result of winning two consecutive races, he said in an interview, "I'm not particularly satisfied with this result. I would also like to aim for the world," he said.
