Mr. Dejen Tesfalem, an international student from Eritrea, graduated from SEISA University Accommodation Course last September. Since then, he has been working for a company in Kagoshima prefecture while continuing his athletics career.
Two months after joining the company, he has become accustomed to the workplace and training environment and actively participates in exchange programs with local children. In terms of competition, he has gradually taken on the challenge of competing in larger events. He participated in the men’s 10 km division of the “61st Southern Japan Long Distance Competition” on January 6, and won the race in 29:32, more than 30 seconds ahead of the second place!
Next month in February, he will participate in the “76th Kagawa-Marugame International Half Marathon”, and the “71st Kagoshima Round-the-City-County Ekiden Race”, which he will run three times in five days, and in March he will run in the “Kagoshima Marathon 2024”.
Mr. Dejen came to Japan as a high school student as the first batch of the Sports Scholarship Program supported by FGC and SEISA Group. He is aiming to compete in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. We will continue to support him. Please look forward to seeing his future activities.
