Aiming to develop an atmosphere conducive to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, students at Odawara Municipal Ashiko Elementary School and Shimofuchu Elementary School made cheering boards and paintings to support the athletes and inform the public about the countries which Odawara City is registered as the host town.

As a member of “SKY Project”, Odawara City is the host town of the State of Eritrea, Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Kingdom of Bhutan. Besides, the city is also registered as the host town for Australia and Republic of Maldives.

Furthermore, the Paralympic delegation from Bhutan went through pre-games training camp at SEISA Hakone Campus. On the last day of the camp, Ms. Chimi Dema and Mr. Gyeltshen Gyeltshen, track & field Paralympic athletes representing Bhutan, and Mr. Penjor Gyeltsen, Coach, were delighted when they saw the cheering boards at Shiroyama Athletics Stadium, Odawara City. They expressed their joy by saying, “We got a lot of energy from the boards. We will do our best in our first Paralympic Games.”

The cheering boards and paintings will be displayed at Odawara City Main Government Building and first floor entrance of Sentou Town Center Maronie until September 5th, 2021. Detailed information can be found on the homepage of Odawara City.
